Girato interamente con il cellulare, l’opera video “Mothers” riflette sulle necessità primarie degli italiani, emerse nel periodo tra la prima e la seconda fase di lockdown.
Costituito da diversi elementi narrativi, il video si compone dei dati di Google Trends, relativi alla ricerca del termine “Lievito madre” sul web, di alcune gif e dell’evoluzione dell’opera nei suoi diversi stadi di vita.
Lievito madre, freddo marmo.
Madre come vita, madre come maestra di vita, madre come sostentamento fisico e morale, madre come madre natura, madre di un destino infausto.
Mothers è un’ opera che muta ed evolve nel tempo, seguendo, metaforicamente, il percorso di un essere umano che nasce, cresce, cerca di trovare la sua posizione nel mondo e muore. L’ elemento scelto per rappresentare questo aspetto dell’esistenza è il lievito madre; un organismo che si sviluppa con un ciclo vitale simile a quello dell’uomo.
Ilario Caliendo cerca analizza e le fobie della vita sociale contemporanea, focalizzandosi sul’abuso della rete e alla dipendenza dai social media.I suoi lavori indagano in vari settori quali il copyright, nuove forme artistiche,la cultura visuale contemporanea, il trash e le allucinazioni visive. Il suo approccio richiama l’atteggiamento poetico e attivista dell’hacker tradizionale e usa l’ironia come mezzo di riflessione.

Filmed entirely with a cell phone, the video work “Mothers” reflects on the primary needs of Italians, which emerged in the period from the first to the second phase of lockdown. Composed of different narrative elements, the video consists of Google Trends data, related to the search for the term “mother yeast” on the web, some gifs and the evolution of the work Mothers, in its different stages of life.

Physical and moral sustenance, mother as mother nature, mother of an ominous destiny.
Mothers is a work that changes and evolves over time, metaphorically following the path of a human being who is born, grows, tries to find his position in the world and dies. The element chosen to represent this aspect of existence is the mother yeast; an organism that develops with a life cycle similar to that of humans.
Ilario Caliendo analyzes the phobias of contemporary social life, focusing on the abuse of the network and dependence on social media.His works investigate different domains such as copyright, new artistic forms, contemporary visual culture, trash and visual hallucinations. His approach recalls the poetic and activist attitude of the traditional hacker and uses irony as a means of reflection.
