Il titolo del progetto è tratto dal libro di Alan Weisman che esamina cosa accadrebbe all’ambiente naturale e artificiale se l’uomo scomparisse all’improvviso dalla faccia della Terra. Durante la fase più buia del lockdown in Italia, Greg Jager ha condotto una serie di “passeggiate” solitarie. Questo vagare in strada senza una meta precisa ha spinto l’artista ad interrogarsi sul grande tema dell’estinzione umana. Una serie di scatti fotografici focalizzano l’attenzione sull’antropizzazione sospesa. I cantieri, la segnaletica stradale provvisoria, i materiali edili, senza traccia di umani intorno rappresentano lo sgretolarsi della nostra fragilissima esistenza e danno forma ad una nuova chiave di lettura dell’urbanistica post-umana.
La ricerca di Greg Jager si focalizzata su un nuovo rapporto tra uomo e ambiente attraverso la consapevolezza dei fallimenti urbani, politici e sociali. Una visione che vuole mettere in discussione le nostre abitudini ed esplorare possibili futuri. Si impegna ad osservare con curiosità la società contemporanea ed i suoi simboli, trovando connessioni tra arte, architettura ed antropologia.

The title of the project is taken from Alan Weisman’s book that examines what would happen to the natural and artificial environment if man suddenly disappeared from the face of the Earth. During the darkest phase of the lockdown in Italy, Greg Jager conducted a series of solitary “walks”. This wandering in the street without a precise destination led the artist to question himself about the great theme of human extinction. A series of photographic shots focus the attention on suspended anthropization. Construction sites, temporary street signs, building materials, with no trace of humans around, represent the disintegration of our very fragile existence and give shape to a new interpretation of the post-human urbanism.
Greg Jager’s research focuses on a new relationship between man and environment through the awareness of urban, political and social failures. A vision that wants to question our habits and explore possible futures. He is committed to observe with curiosity contemporary society and its symbols, finding connections between art, architecture and anthropology.
