Nel libro d’artista sono ritratte persone in fila fotografate in un quartiere di Roma durante il lockdown. Il libro è stato poi esposto davanti agli stessi negozi (alimentari e librerie) e mostrato alle persone che si accingevano ad entrare.
Il lockdown concede solo il necessario. Ed eccoci in fila davanti ai supermercati. Mascherati e anonimi. Scene surreali e inquietanti di una realtà che necessita di essere smarcata da nuove visioni. E allora non faccio la fila, lavoro. Accarezzo con lo sguardo tutte le figure che vedo ferme dietro le mascherine, le ritraggo nel mio libro fatto di pagine di lino. File su filo. Li porto in altri mondi. Chi è l’ultimo?
Elena Nonnis vive e lavora a Roma. Il suo lavoro si sviluppa prevalentemente nel segno. Alla fine degli anni novanta il segno diventa cucito e assume diverse declinazioni, tutte rigorosamente monocrome.

In the artist’s book people are portraited while queuing in one of Rome’s quarters during the lockdown. The book was eventually exibited in front of the same shops (food and book stores) and shown to the people entering the stores.
The lockdown only grants the bare necessities. So here we are queuing at the supermarkets. With our masks on and anonymous. Surreal and worrying scenes of a reality that needs to be sublimed through new types of visions. So I do not stand in line, I work. My gaze wanders over all the figures I see standing still behind the masks, I portray them in my book whose pages are made of linen. Lines on linen… I transport them to other worlds. Who’s the last in line?
Elena Nonnis lives and works in Rome. Her work unfolds mainly through the sign. In the late 1990s the sign becomes sewing and adopts various forms, all strictly monochrome.
