Di fronte al Colosseo ho issato una bandiera italiana in bianco e nero; il basamento su cui poggia, è un tronco d’albero segato che da anni fa da piedistallo spontaneo ai milioni di turisti che si avvicendano per la foto di rito. Al posto dei sorrisi e delle pose studiate adesso c’è il vuoto, il vento e i gabbiani. In quello che doveva essere il centro del mondo, ora c’è un simbolo del dubbio e dell’incertezza.
Artista poliedrico e musicista, negli ultimi anni la sua poetica si è concentrata soprattutto sulla produzione di video, immagini fotografiche, installazioni sonore ma anche di quelli che lui definisce blitz. Ibridando etica ed estetica, tecnologia e azioni comportamentali, Iginio reclama l’interazione con l’ambiente e il pubblico, denunciando, tra ironia e impegno, la crisi di valori di questo nostro tempo.

In front of the Colosseum I hoisted an Italian flag in black and white; the base on which it rests, is a sawed tree trunk that for years has been a spontaneous pedestal for the millions of tourists who come for the ritual photo. Instead of smiles and studied poses there is now emptiness, wind and seagulls. In what was supposed to be the centre of the world, there is now a symbol of doubt and uncertainty.
Polyhedric artist and musician, in recent years his poetics has focused mainly on the production of videos, photographic images, sound installations but also what he calls blitz. Hybridizing ethics and aesthetics, technology and behavioral actions, Iginio claims the interaction with the environment and the public, denouncing, between irony and commitment, the crisis of values of our time.
