Nell’immobilità, l’unico gesto è provocare la sparizione di una chiave. Non apre, non chiude. Guardarla affondare in uno spazio che non è più di nessuno. Non ti lascio. Rimango.
Superfluo dire se abbia trovato una collocazione, io ho solo percepito un riflesso.
Memorie sepolte, spazi circoscritti come l’interno del corpo e l’ambiente domestico, sono i campi d’azione preferiti di Rita Mandolini. Pur utilizzando diversi linguaggi la matrice del suo lavoro è inevitabilmente pittorica. L’assenza di luce, le potenzialità del nero, la lentezza e l’attesa sono i suoi strumenti. È proprio in quelle zone d’ombra, in cui lo sguardo è solo una parte del tutto, che si ritrova.

In immobility, the only gesture is to cause the disappearance of a key. It doesn’t open, it doesn’t close. Watching it sink into a space that is no longer anyone’s. I’m not leaving you. I’m staying. Needless to say, I’ve only sensed a reflection.
Domestic environments, buried memories, narrow, intimate and hidden spaces in the semi-darkness are Rita Mandolini’s favourite spheres of action. While using different languages the matrix of her work is inevitably pictorial. The absence of light, the potential of black, slowness and waiting, are the tools of her work. It is exactly in those shadow areas, in which our gaze is but a part of the whole, that she really finds herselves.
