“Stanotte ho sognato di voler andare al fiume per lavare i panni. Sono uscita dall’appartamento, ho sceso le scale, ma nei pressi del condominio c’era solo cemento. “Aspetta, prendo un metro, che ormai è l’unità di misura che giustifica tutto, con la quale tutto si risolve!” Mi affaccio al tombino, ascolto l’acqua che scorre…era laggiù. “Ma cosa pretendo io di fare?” Rimango in superficie a guardare mentre tengo in mano uno stupido metro. Il tombino rappresenta potenzialmente un interstizio di via di fuga, lo spiraglio che può accedere alla risorsa naturale, al sottosuolo, ai fiumi sotterranei. La grande disillusione del tombino però, è che il più delle volte conduce a un riluttante flusso di merda”.
Francesca Mussi è un’artista visiva di base a Milano, si forma tra Leeds (UK) e Milano lavorando con le tecniche sperimentali della stampa d’arte.
Con i suoi lavori più recenti il materiale naturale viene prediletto, come il cotone o le tinture. L’immagine dell’artista stessa è impressa spesso nei lavori facendosi portatrice di azioni enigmatiche eseguite precedentemente, che possono sollevare riflessioni della contemporaneità o suggestioni di miti del passato.

<< Last night I dreamed of wanting to go to the river to wash clothes. I left the apartment, went down the stairs, but there was only concrete around the apartment building. “Wait, I take a meter, which is now the unit of measurement that justifies everything, with which everything can be solved!” I stand over a manhole, listen to the water flowing … it was over there. “But what do I expect to do more than staying on the surface holding that stupid meter in my hands? “The manhole cover potentially represents an interstice of escape hatch, the opening that allows access to the natural resource, to the subsoil, to the underground rivers. The big disillusionment of the manhole, however, is that most of the time it leads to a reluctant flow of shit >>.
Francesca Mussi (1992) is a Milan-based artist. She studied Visual Arts between Leeds (UK) and Milan working with the printmaking experimental techniques. With his most recent works the natural material is preferred, such as cotton or dyes. The image of the artist herself is often inserted in the works by being the bearer of enigmatic actions performed previously, which can raise reflections on contemporary issues or suggestions from myths of the past.
